The architectural beauty of ornamental grasses

can never be underestimated, especially throughout the winter months.

These beautiful plants provide texture, movement and colour and look particularly beautiful when dusted with frost.

There is a wide array of evergreen grasses to choose from to give warm tones to the winter borders.

Sone of my own favourites are miscanthus varieties which have a range of beautifully coloured seed heads

I find ornamental grasses at their best planted in groups of different varieties and sizes and amongst other plants which keep their seed heads over winter, for example, verbena bonariensis, alliums and teasels, especially when the low winter sun shines through them.

Go on, try a few amongst your borders, I promise you won't regret it....
