Front Garden Area
The clients brief was for a very low maintenance area at the front of the house to replace a tired and overgrown shrubbery, which would sit happily with the adjoining pavement.
The area was fully cleared including all roots.
Weed membrane was laid over the areas and the clients chose low picket fencing which was fixed around the perimeter of the small beds.
Large pebbles were the aggregate of choice for the clients which were used to cover both areas.
A wooden trough was planted with a mix of complimentary coloured skimmia, heuchera, grasses, cylindrical conifer, polyanthus and ivy. Spring bulbs were also added.
Shaped box plants were used in a planter and also planted directly into the ground to provide further shape and structure, in keeping with the minimalist look of the area.
The clients were advised these would just require light trimming and shaping each spring and summer bedding could be added as required to the trough.
